I’m not sure if this will work
At this point, I’m not sure what will work. At the risk of sounding whiny, I’ve tried a bunch of things and I still have more story ideas and unfinished drafts than I care to admit to.
I LOVE to write. I love to dream up stories. I love to read.
And yet, these things have, by necessity, been relegated to the margins of my life. The early mornings and late nights. The nap times and the waiting in lines.
I work a full-time, outside-the-home, big-girl-job which I love. I have a toddler who’s one of my two favorite people on the planet. I have a husband I enjoy spending time with and am so thankful to parent alongside.
And I have stories bursting at the seams of my heart, begging to be let out.
I’m not sure why - no one in my family is a professional writer and when choosing colleges and careers at the far-too-young age of eighteen, nothing about writing was in my college or career plan.
But to get to the point….I’m starting this blog, my author website, as a personal challenge and personal accountability. I got the idea from my new favorite non-fiction author, Dana White, who started her blog “A Slob Comes Clean” in a last-ditch attempt to solve her clutter problem. I’m not pretending to aspire to her level of success but it’s something I haven’t tried yet.
So here’s hoping it works! My goal is to start and finish a full draft of my novel during national novel writing month of the year 2024.
I’ll attempt to spend less time on this blog and more time…you know….writing. But I hope for these posts to serve as a stream-of-consciousness of how I make time in the margins of my life to accomplish this goal, to do what I love.
